During last night’s episode of the ITV programme, the presenting duo playfully mocked the members of their crew in Australia over the country’s unfortunate result in the football tournament, after the men’s team lost 4-1 to France.
Despite the match having kicked off at 7pm GMT, one person who didn’t watch it live wasn’t happy that Ant and Dec spoiled the result for them.
‘Trust @antanddec to needlessly reveal the football scores just before the highlights come on,’ the person wrote, alongside a face-palm and eye-roll emoji.
They added: ‘I’m not sure what they find funny,’ before finishing their message with a thinking and shrugging emoji.
Minutes later, Ant and Dec fired back with a response – while the latest episode of I’m A Celebrity was still on the air – instructing their critic to ‘stop watching live TV’ if they wanted to avoid spoilers.
‘We were taking the mick out of our Aussie crew after a loss in the WC. I don’t understand what you don’t understand!?’ they replied.
‘Maybe stop watching live tv and stay off Twitter if u want to control what you do and don’t hear.’
Several people agreed with Ant and Dec’s stance, with one Twitter user pointing out: ‘You wanted to avoid the Australia score so you chose to watch a show by 2 huge football fans IN AUSTRALIA???? Huh….’
‘Of course they are going to mention it they love the football lol,’ someone else stated, while another wrote: ‘You could have relaxed to literally anything that wasn’t LIVE TV hosted by football fans.’
The original tweeter responded by adding that they won’t ‘make the mistake [of] watching them next time’.
During yesterday’s episode of I’m A Celebrity, Owen Warner and Chris Moyles took on the Dingo Dollar challenge in an effort to win a treat for camp.
After completing the puzzle challenge, they found out the treat on offer was a plate of brownies, as well as the result of the England vs Iran match in the World Cup.
However, the camp ended up getting the question wrong when asked which of the following garnered the biggest viewing figures: the men’s Euro 2020 final, the women’s Euro 2022 final or the Queen’s funeral.
I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9pm on ITV.
